P-Lux Lanterns vs Traditional Lanterns: What’s The Difference?

Traditional lanterns used to dominate gardens, pathways and porches, complimenting houses with their classic shapes, and decorative appeal. However, when the bulb blows, they hang dormant. What is P-Lux Technology
P-Lux lanterns use a LED driver and tri-sensor technology to sense light, temperature and movement. But what does this really mean for a homeowner? P-Lux lanterns offer three modes of lighting and security:
PIR mode- Indicated by a green light, this setting is activated from dusk until dawn, the lantern stays off until motion is detected, once triggered it switches on for 60 seconds at full brightness, then switches itself back off.
P-Lux mode- Indicated by a blue light, similar to PIR mode, P-Lux mode is also activated from dusk until dawn, however, instead of switching off, the lantern remains on a low-level dim mode. Once motion is detected the lantern illuminates to full brightness for 60 seconds before returning to dim mode.
Photocell mode- Also known as BBQ mode, is indicated by a red light, this setting keeps the lantern at full brightness from dusk until dawn, ideal for evening entertainment or added security.

Traditional vs Modern Design
Traditional lanterns tend to have that timeless, vintage look to them, often chosen for their design appeal rather than their efficiency and durability. Light Source Technology
Traditional lanterns typically use halogen or incandescent bulbs, whilst creating an ambient glow they consume more energy and have a shorter life span. In contrast, the P-Lux lantern uses LED technology to ensure consistent brightness and low energy consumption.
P-Lux lanterns can last up to 50,000 hours, whereas traditional lanterns typically last between 1000-2000 hours. Given this, if you were to use your P-Lux lantern for 10 hours each day, it should in theory last you just shy of 14 years.
Durability
Traditional lanterns mainly use pressed steel/aluminium with glass panels, these materials are prone to rust, especially in costal areas due to the air corroding metal. P-Lux lanterns offer a UV-resistant coated aluminium, 316 stainless steel or non-metal coastal variants.
Classic vs Efficient
