Safety Alarms

It’s 2:14am. The house is quiet, everyone’s asleep… then suddenly — a loud, persistent alarm cuts through the silence.

You check the kitchen. Nothing. No smoke, no obvious danger. Just that relentless sound echoing through the house.

Situations like this are more common than you might think. The good news? In most cases, it’s not an emergency — and you can resolve it yourself in minutes.

Start Here - What's Happening?

  • My alarm is sounding – what should I do first?

    Before anything else:

Check for signs of fire, smoke, or danger
If there is any risk → leave the property immediately and call emergency services

If there are no visible signs of danger, continue with the checks below.

    • Identify which alarm has been triggered — it will sound different from the others
    • Press the hush button to mute the alarm

➡️ The alarm will stay silent for approximately 8 minutes

    During this time:

    • Clean the alarm (see below)
    • Replace the battery

  • How do I know which alarm is going off?

The triggered alarm will have a different sound pattern and flashing LED indicator pattern to the others.

If Alarms are interlinked, the triggered unit will set off all of the others.

➡️ Identifying the source is key to resolving the issue.

  • How to silence your alarm

Step 1: Identify the Trigger. In an interconnected system, only the “Trigger” alarm detected smoke/heat.

The Trigger: Will have a single flashing red light and a continuous beep pattern.

The Followers: Will have a double flashing red light and a “be-be-beep” sound.

Step 2: Press the large Hush/Test button on the center of the triggering unit. It will remain silent for 8 minutes.

False Alarms & Cleaning

  • My alarm went off but there’s no smoke or fire

This is usually a false trigger caused by:

    • Dust
    • Dirt
    • Debris inside the alarm

    Fix:

Press the hush button, this will silence the triggered alarm for 8 minutes.

➡️ Clean your alarm during this period

Alarm Beeping / Chirping

  • How can I identify what the "Chirping" of my alarm is?

    Chirping Alarms

  • My alarm chirps every 40 seconds with a red light

    This indicates a low battery.

➡️ Replace the battery with a new 9V battery

  • My alarm chirps every 40 seconds (no red light)

This usually means the alarm needs cleaning.

➡️ Clean the unit thoroughly on all sides

  • My alarm chirps every 2 seconds with a red flashing light

    This indicates a wiring fault.

➡️ An electrician will likely be required to inspect the system
